Climatology

The Priorat climate is determined by its situation near the Mediterranean sea and the Ebro valley. But the Priorat is also bordered by mountains which stop the sea influence to some stent. In fact, its climate is continental. While summers are hot, winters are cold. Nigths are cold too, but days are hotter. This contrast favours a better riping of the grapes, which makes its wines (be) full-boolied.

Spring and Autumn (fall) can be raing (500/600 litres/m3). But rains are not equally distributed. However, the wet winds coming from the sea during the rain season helps grapes riping.

To finish, it is also worth mentioning, because of its mountains and geographical features that there are a great variety of microclimates in the Priorat. Nearly each vineyard is different which makes the vinegrower control all (the process) closely.
